Letter from the President
Something happened to Catholics in America.
There was a time when Catholics looked out for their own. If you worked hard, opportunities came your way. Business owners had a built-in customer base—the Church. If you lost your job, word spread through the parish. If you started a business, Catholics rallied behind you.
But today?
We shop from megastores, get hired from job boards, and work for corporations that worship their stock price. Our business owners struggle while everyone chases the cheapest price, the fastest shipping, the biggest discount. If our resume makes it past the whims of the algorithm, we’re rewarded with interviews where we dodge questions about what we really believe. We watch corporations push every value under the sun except our own.
We’ve been told that’s just how the world works. That business is business. So we keep our heads down. We stay quiet. And in the process, we’ve become scattered, isolated, alone.
We’ve come to accept this as normal. But it’s not.
And if we don’t recover what we’ve lost—Catholics hiring Catholics, Catholics buying from Catholics—we’ll keep getting left behind in an economy that isn’t built for us… when we could be building one of our own.
That’s why we started the St. Joseph Business Guild.
We didn’t just start a nonprofit. We started a movement. A revival. We’re building something new by recovering something old: Catholics helping Catholics thrive in work and business.
This isn’t a pipe dream. It’s already happening: job offers made over coffee after Mass, businesses growing through word-of-mouth in the pews, mentors sharing decades of wisdom with the next generation of Catholic owners.
We’re learning to look out for one another again, not because we’re exclusive, but because we believe our faith should shape every part of our lives—including the way we work, where we buy, and how we invest.
Today, the St. Joseph Business Guild is 900+ members strong and growing fast. The Guild is where:
- Catholics land better jobs
- Catholic businesses hire better people
- Catholic freelancers find new clients
- Catholic retirees give back as mentors
- Catholics support each other in real, tangible ways
We’re not here to “build our network.” We’re here to build an edifice strong enough to uphold the Church for generations.
And we’re just getting started.
So whether you’re hiring, job-seeking, freelancing, mentoring, leading a nonprofit, or just looking for something more—there’s a place for you in the Guild.
If you’ve been waiting for someone else to fix things, stop waiting. Come build with us. Together we’ll do what others of little faith are convinced is impossible.
May God bless your family through your work,
Roger Vasko
